When Being Biracial: Where Our Secret Worlds Collide was first released, it sparked conversations around identity, race, belonging, and complexity that went far beyond what Bryony and I expected. As the co-creator of the original anthology, I considered it a privilege to collaborate with Bryony and our 24 incredible contributors from around the world, each bravely sharing what it means to live between racial and cultural identities.
As these essays began finding their way into book clubs, libraries and discussion groups, the Mixed Remixed Festival and podcasts, we both realized that if educators wanted to use this in their classrooms, they needed more than just the stories—they needed tools to help unpack them.
That’s why Bryony and I decide to create the Being Biracial Educators’ Guide. We hired Mixed-Race Scholar, Shannon Luders-Manuel to write it.
